Now this is going to be interesting!!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I have made up a customized installation DVD's of Windows for myself so far ive created one for  Window XP SP3 and Vista SP1 I guess im asking what does everyone in this forum use or prefer!!! pretty muchly i use NLITE for Windows XP and VLITE for Windows Vista and golly gosh!! Vista has got a huge amount of crap in it the sample music and sample pictures take up 480meg and thats just two things!! the Media center takes up 380meg like who would wont that when you dnt even use Windows Media Player as ya default music programme OK!!! some people would but I use JetAudio as it's small and compact and alot more user freindly!!!!! Ummm yeah I guess i got to much time on my hands tweaking and customizing Windows Installations lol...........

At the moment im running Windows XP Service Pack 3......But will have to move to Vista if I wana play ne of the latest games that require directX10 as XP only goes up to DX9 Sad Sad
Sad Sad

But now they are bringing out Windows 7 and it seems not long ago they brought out Vista!!! and they are still trying to iron out the bugs with XP!!!!!!..........Wouldnt it be better if they fixed ONE OS instead of bring out others to try n cover up there shotty jobs!!!! sorry for being so direct!!!!

Now dnt get me wrong im not dissing Vista but for what it actually is it takes up a huge amount of hard drive space for just the OS not that i'm complaining ive got a 500gig hdd!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy but im making my install dvd's so i don't have to bother taking out what i don't use after installing!!!! so it makes me life alot more easier!!! and the good thing is you can tweak the OS even more if you know what ur doing!!! lol.......

I use Windows Media Player as my default music playing program. I also occasionally fiddle with Media Centre.

I use Windows Vista.

Umm pretty muchly yeah but you can also tell them as part of the sell you wont the machine with Windows XP loaded instead of Vista but yeah theres a few machines still being sold with XP that I have noticed!! But have u noticed that there is still more drivers and programmes that wont work on Vista cose XP is still being recognized as still being the most used OS...........

I have now taking Vista off and gone back to XP cose a few of my programmes didnt run unda Vista  Angry Angry Angry Angry apart from that I wouldve stayed with it but theres programmes are like life or death for me!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

But you are right more machines are being sold with Vista!.............

BUT BE AWARE XP will now longer be support in 2014..................So I recommend stick  with Vista!! unless ur like Myself AG and The Exception and you support yuor own computer that's what I do  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I own a bunch of computers. Three near by me and my mom has my laptop. I have another desktop in storage, but its a cheap piece of dell junk.

This machine is a dual core 3.0 ghz with four gigs of ram running xp. The other two near me are Ubuntu linux machines, with dual core and 2.0 ghz. I normally use the first one for web browsing as it is safer than windows. The second is my test machine so that I dont break anything on my browser machine.

On this computer I have a geforce 9800 GT PCI-e card, and I will SLI it with another soon. It uses a 24 inch wide screen LCD @ 1920x1200. The linux boxes have respectively a CRT monitor at 1600x1200 and the test machine makes use of my HDTV which sits atop it.

The laptop runs ubuntu as well.

Windows xp is slowly dying on me and will likely be the last OS I buy from microsoft.  Its registry seems to be mucking up and If I have to install again, I might as well install linux. I hardly game anyway.

My Internet Computer is Windows XP, SP 2.

My Composing Computer is Windows XP, SP 2.

My Wife's Laptop that I bought her for Christmas today is Windows Vista.

I do not wish to upgrade to Vista until I absolutely have to... and I'm also not upgrading to Service Pack 3 because of the problems people have had with that. Why risk it.

Yay for Eeepc <33  I sold mine on Saturday.. I miss it!!  I was using Xandros though (Linux distro).

I'm currently using Windows XP with a bunch of free software...and have no intention of upgrading to Vista!!!  Smiley

side note: In fact I'd be using kubuntu if I could, but since I dual boot kubuntu/XP, and my install of XP network card drivers overwrote the network drivers for kubuntu or something (how silly), I'm having to survive on Windows-based internet applications at the moment.

Well, I survived on Windows 2k until February this year, I'll be fine without Vista for the next decade ty Tongue

Aaron - I also agree it is a bit amusing they're coming out with Windows 7 so early into Vista!  It seems like it's mostly an interface change though, lots of spiffy effects rather than fundamental overhaul.  They're keeping the Vista UAE etc to support the users who upgraded to Vista.  I think it's the best thing they could have done in the circumstances, so well done to Microsoft.  Unfortunately...I also think Vista was a bit of "oops" on their part!  Hopefully they'll keep improving!

I use Windows XP slipstreamed with Service Pack 3.

Windows Vista is a horrible operating system.

My default music player is Foobar2000, my default program for movies/videos is Media Player Classic, I use Mozilla Firefox for browsing the internet, and I use Miranda IM as my primary instant messenger.
