Hmm. I know this discussion is old, but I just had to add my opinion, because I'm like that.
Maybe I'm naive, but I honestly think farmer boy here is legit. A lot of people have silly pictures as their profile picture - I myself had an extremely nerdy-looking guy as my Facebook picture (I am a relatively normal-looking girl). I wasn't trying to make myself and other Aspies look bad, I just thought it was funny. He's like those seventh grade boys who put bugs in the shoes of the girl he likes. Or like those boys in second grade who would make fun of us Girl Scouts by saying "Brownieesss! You're named after food!" (I would get so mad at them, btw.
) But my point is, I don't think he's malicious, just immature and harmless. I know a girl in real life (on the spectrum!) that is 100 times the troll he is, but she's pretty harmless too - just annoying.
But honestly, who do you think is going to give AS a worse name, someone who's immature, or someone who is uptight with no sense of humor? Most people actually are aware that Aspies are intelligent, but a lot (including doctors!) also think that Aspies have poles up their @$$es and no sense of humor. So being humorless and defensive isn't really spreading "positive autism awareness" either. Just saying.
