Do you or would you trust yourself with a chainsaw?

I know I'm pretty gangly and uncoordinated in some ways, but I've represented my country in several sporting events so I can't be THAT hazardous. I'm always aware of lethal implements in my environment.
Why does everyone look nervous when I wheelie the tractor, or start cutting firewood?

Machines I can deal with...

I would probably drop it in surprise or lose control of it because i'm such a weakling Wink
It it wasn't too heavy then yes that's fine.

People need to just chill out. Do they look nervous when they see anyone else using one?

I feel a bit nervous considering myself with a chainsaw.

My partner looks worried whenever I do anything that is 'dangerous'.  Apparently when I'm involved, the category of 'things that are dangerous' is surprisingly large.   I suspect if my partner saw me getting ready to chop firewood, he'd be worried...very very worried.

I would never in a thousand years trust myself with a chainsaw. *shudder* I'd probably kill myself!

I've used a chainsaw before. And a hedgetrimmer.

I'm an electrician, in my trade we use lots of power tools and occasionally work on live circuits. Some aspies at another site seemed nervous about trade work and using tools so seeing a youngster like Rocket who is familiar with tools is good. I don't buy into Aspie supremacy but I do believe Aspies should learn to do for themselves to the best of their ability. Getting familiar, but not complacent, with tools is good.

Yeah, and coming from a farming family, I learned how to use them early on. Although I had a problem with digging with shovels. I would dig where I wasn't supposed to Smiley
I would dig small holes in my backyard.

MY brother used to dig BIG holes. Four feet deep and four feet wide. In winter he would do the same with snow piles, making forts in them.

Regarding chain saws, I have used them a bit. I am very careful with them as one should be. I had the chain come flying off an electric one. That bothered me more than a little.

That would scare the hell out of me. Periodic tool inspection is a good idea, I try to remember to do so.

I wear ear protection whenever I operate a power tool.
