In all honesty being told by the psychiatrist that I have Asperger's was absolutely devastating and I still haven't got over it.   I might never.

My level of alcohol consumption etc started rising after that appointment.

Then I started posting on Plank's website, stating things that were ridiculously untrue (e.g. that I am a hit with women, whereas in real life I am sexually inactive), but they all took it seriously and banned me forever.

But it was just another way for me to try and escape this horrible, truly depressing diagnosis.

Sorry, I hope I make nobody else depressed in so saying.  But you've got to admit, the prospects are not exactly fantastic.

If you can find a good therapist or support group, you can use the diagnosis to find people that can help make your life better.

I hate therapists.  I like alcohol.

I know this is a bit of a cliché and it can be hard to see, but I have found there are benefits to being AS, it did take a little time and a little perspective to find them though.

I have found with alcohol it helps bring down the inabitions of yourself and other people. It depends who your drinking with(stay away from morons) and it depends on how it affects you and your medication.  Inititially I started getting drunk with uni students.  These guys are cool. But after a while I became an alcoholic and would drink with anybody even with morons and I payed the price for it.  I have not had a drink in two years and I do not want to drink it makes me too much of a monster  especially when combined with medications and as an aspie I have weaker nervous systems and it affect motor skills I think its something that aspies should avoid unless there with the right group and will not become dangerous on it.  My advice dont drink at pubs and get drunk you will stand out and some moron my pick you for a fight and he will still hit you even if your not keen to fight him  If your on college dorms then unistudents are a blast to get drunk with other than that I cannot suggest any other place except at friends homes or your home.  Just having a nice glass of red with your meal is usually quite good amongst certain groups or having a couple of beers with your friends is ok.  Find out what works for you I do not drink because I am alcoholic and its a disease for me but it might not be for you.  But the path of alcohol has caused me a lot of pain and imbarrasment

On a more lighter side I wonder how aspie women walk around in high heels while drunk. Grin.  As alcohol does affect our hand eye cordination it and we dont have great hand eye to begin with it would be an interesting.
