OK every forum needs a "What are you reading?" thread, and as I read all the time and generally get through at least a book every week if not more, I am always looking for good book recomendations. At the moment I am reading Lucky Man: A Memoir, by Michael J Fox. It is suprisingly good and chronicles his denial and eventual acceptance of his Young Onset Parkinson's Disease and lead him to launch the Michael J Fox Foundation. It's quite a moving autobiography, well worth a read. Zen

Currently, I am reading two books: "If Ignorance is Bliss, Then Why Aren't There More Happy People?" and "The Pearl". I have a tendency to start a bunch of books at once.
The book you're reading sounds interesting!

Ignorance is bliss though. It depends what they're ignorant to. They may be happy in one sense, by being ignorant to something, and unhappy through something else.
Ignorance can also be annoying when one is left hanging.
I'm reading a Beiefer history of time, Harry Potter #1 and a library book.

A Brief History of Time is a fantastic book, the next book, Black Holes and Baby Universes gives you a little more to get your teeth into. If you are into books like this, I recommend Bill Bryson's a Brief History of Everything which is a very interesting read covering everything from Geology to Quantum Mechanics. As for Harry Potter, if you can get hold of the Audio books read by Jim Dale (as apposed to the Steven Fry ones), they are amazing and well worth a listen, they even made it into the guiness book of records, for having created and recorded 146 different character voices for the Deathly Hallows. I've read some of Klaus Hagerup work, but I prefered Jostein Gaarder whose sense of humour which translates a bit better into english (terrible to admit I know). I haven't read any other Norwegian authors I don't think. Zen

I'm currently reading "Possession: A Romance" by A.S. Byatt. Its one of those books that one needs to read with a dictionary on hand, since its more of a romance for intellectual bookworm people. A romance takes place between two scholars while researching the lives of two Victorian poets.

I believe I saw the film adaptation with Gwyneth Paltrow? I suspect the novel would be somewhat better Zen

Finished Dostoevsky's The Idiot, which is a great read.
A very intelligent look and criticism of society and a number of other things and suprisingly relavent to modern society too.
It tells the story of a 27 year old prince who returns to Russia after spending several years in a Swiss sanotarium due to his Epilepsy and chronicles his struggles to find acceptance in a society that scorns him for his condition and his confusion when he finds two different women plotting to earn his affections for there own ends.
Dostoevsky was a bit of a visionary really, and while perhaps not one of his best, but it is still very good read.

Nice one, last year I read War and Peace in its entirety and it was marvellous. Now I am reading After the Reich - how Germans fared after the war.

After being very impressed with how Brandon Sanderson handled taking over The Wheel of Time I decided to take a look at his other works and found Mistborn. I’m not usually a big fan of the fantasy genre as I think between Tolkein, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Rob Grant & Doug Naylor and David Zindell, they have the whole genre sown up and pretty much anything else is a pale copy. But this is a very well written, fast paced and enjoyable trilogy with lots of interesting characters. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the fantasy genre.
