One of the major reasons I don't feel I am an Aspie (although my wife/ trained therapists think so) is I have never suffered depression.

I do know that eating and sleeping right and lots of exercise cures many an ailment. Many people are situationally (sp?) depressed. They can't seem to find gainful employment...lost love...etc. You should feel a little down...but that provides you the impetus for change. OK..you lost...now you have nothing to fear. Take a chance big time. Chase your passions...outwork those around you...Work intelligently, efficiently, and do it repetitiously until you master it. Success will follow. If you don't work for it...you don't deserve it. If you outwork the others...you cannot help but achieve it.

Don't forget the basics: A good diet. Good sleep. Exercise (weights and aerobic). It is biochemical - your outlook will change, and so, your performance in everything else.

Any thoughts on this?

Depression isn't a symptom of Aspergers, it is just Aspies are more prone to it; largely because of social pressusres and poor interelational experiences, which often result in feelings of isolation ect.

You've never suffered depression?  Oh how good for you.

I was eyeing up my pills for an overdose last night.

I feel that way about every second day.  one day okay, one day ready to die ... and one of these blessed days I'll take the damn pills and have done with it. Kiss

I don't wish to seem flippant...as I have said...I don't have first hand knowledge of depression.  If you have secured financial stability, get plentiful exercise, eat healthfully, get plenty of restful sleep...etc., you are not situationally depressed but clinically depressed.  I have seen a world of difference in individuals who were on the wrong medication initially and then stabilized on the correct medication.  The difference was astounding.  It is not psychological but physiological.  An imbalance of the neurotransmitters make you feel that way.  If you feel unrelenting depression...it is never normal.  Do not accept it...get on the right medication.  Should your doctor not be able to stabilize you...it is not your fault...but his.  Find a new doctor...and research the medications and learn from successfully treated patients about their doctors and medication.

Research...act on it...don't stop your journey to happiness.  Accept nothing else.

The world is beautiful...you deserve to enjoy that beauty.
