How come so many low-functioning autistics and influenced NT's write "it is" instead of It's and "that is" instead of that's?
Low-functioning autistic; "it is not good for me to swim in the ocean, for i cannot swim."
Me, or any other person; "It's not good for me to swim in the ocean, because I can't swim".
One reason...just look at the character count in the two statements (although I would not have written it this way). The first is more efficient.
Another reason...many (including me) write as they speak. That which flows off the tongue more smoothly is the one written. When I do not use contractions, it is usually because I wish to emphasize the word that would have been contracted. I would normally use inflection on that particular word.
It is (not in your example), sometimes, more poetic....whether or not others use it for this reason...I do not know....I cannot see how this is or is not an issue though. The point is the information. It is not the method that is so important...but the message...is it not?......Sorry...I am playing with you...I really cannot find more to write using non contractions...It is something that is fun to do sometimes...was it not fun?....
