I've had a terrible time with online dating.

I suspect because I articulate myself well in writing and people don't see my Aspie-ness until we meet in person.  I'm not what they expect, no matter how much emailing, IMing, Skyping, etc.  No matter how well you think you know a person over the Internet, you mind fills in any gaps automatically and that person is not going to be completely who you've imagined they are.

I've had much better luck with dating people I've met first in person, usually while doing some activity we both enjoy.

With things like online dating your always going to take a risk that what you see on the profiles you may not get in real life.  Many people are geniune but might exaggerate themselves because they are trying to sell themselves.  There are alot of bulls*** artists as that tell you all sorts of crap mainly and guys I suspect are the worse for it because many of them are only after sex and thats it.  Not all online "gentlemen" are gentlemen in real life.
