Actually I always preferred dogs. My partner is the cat person really. She had one when we got together and somehow we acquired several more. I have come to like them a lot more than I did though.

I have always loved cats. The problem with dogs is that you must make a lot more effort with them otherwise they become 'dominant' over you and start misbehaving, sometimes very badly. I think anybody who does anything to actively harm other people's pets should go to jail.

Am I missing something here? Why is it considered bad to express emotions or passions? (I noticed this edit when I came back to this thread to write about my new cat.) Is it an autistic thing where you have to feel guilty for having emotions and so on? And you feel like you need to be formal and polite etc?

Is this the cat that often visits or have you bought one?

He visits me so often I think of him as my own. But he likes to wander so I think nobody really 'owns' him, except maybe if there is someone's house or flat he sleeps in at night.

One of ours kind of turned up like that, he used to sneak in for food ect. Then one day we came home and he was had moved in. We had him for several years, unfortunately he died earlier this year. The vet believed he managed to get into some anti-freeze somewhere, it wasn't pleseant.

I rarely see a cat in the city. Most people seem to keep them inside. Outdoors cats don't live as long.

Luckily we live in the country these days, so the cats get to rome free. Aside from bringing in the odd bird, mouse or rat it never causes a problem. They are all neutured / spayed, so they tend not to wonder very far anyway

I finally saw the cat again today. I let him in, fed him some pork and cuddled him. It is very nice.

Keep some cans of tuna in spring water around, its a sure way to win a cats friendship for life As you suggested, I am now feeding him tuna. And he loves to have his back-end scratched, he hops up onto the couch and lets me scratch him. He sometimes gives me a kiss, with his tuna breath. But he is very much a free spirit, sometimes he will only come in for 20 - 30 mins and then want to be let out into the stairway again. I would prefer to see him in some rural place where he could hunt for lots of wild beasties. But the good news is that he probably keeps the rats and mice away from our flats. In my last flat I had a mouse infestation. And I really hate rodents. They about ruined my life, and I almost went out of my mind with them chewing the sofas and popping out at night, scratching and screeching and frightening me almost to death.

I have a kitty, too. He is fat. He's lazy and loves to eat and is fat. He's nice to pet, though. And he seems to actually hug me sometimes.
