Now I have a problem (actually many problems Smiley ), but particularly with my voice.  I am a male but my voice is very soft.  Now, I am also quite particular about the way I speak, and this combination of literacy and softness makes me unable to command the respect of working class persons - who I sometimes have to work with, because of the low level of a lot of the jobs I do (like humping computer equipment around Sad ).

Now then, what I want to know is, do you think the pitch and volume of voice is genetic, or is there some way to change the tone of voice, because I definitely need to build a stronger and more confident voice, because as a male there are occasions when I need to command respect, or inspire confidence in others, and not sound so 'shaky'.  For example at work or when speaking to a woman, because I know you women do not like an unsure and unconfident-sounding man.

So if you say you want your voice to be softer, I want mine to be stronger, and in fact, I have known women with strong voices who are fantastic at working in call centres.   Grin

I think its partly genetic. Its just the way your vocal cords are made.
Of course you can make it quieter and louder, but I find I actually have to try to make it quieter. I am good on the telephone - ironic that I absolutely hate the things.

I don't really like the sound of my voice but you play the cards you're dealt with the best you can. Try googling it. Maybe you can make it louder.

Do you actually want it louder or do you want power in it? Because power from someone radiates from within. You don't have to have a loud voice to sound confident.

It's the 'power from within' that I really want.
