Although I believe in jesus and that I am not a big fan of the way many conservative churches put out a false beacon of hope for acceptence to people especially people with disabilities.  Whats your idea on the matter

I am Agnostic, but I was raised as a catholic. I don't have a problem with faith per se, in fact I have a great deal of respect for people who have true faith and it is something that never ceases to fill me with awe when I encounter it.

I often hear it said that some of the worst things man kind has done has been in the name of religion. I personally don't believe that. I think some of the worst things mankind has done have been done by using religion as an excuse, but they have actually been done for power and greed.

There are worrying groups in most religions obviously, but they really do tend to be very much the minority regardless of religion. In my experience most people tend to be quite decent regardless of political or religious views.

Don't trust any 'in your face' religious freaks ... if Jesus were alive today he would be ashamed of organized religion.   Sad

I believe Jesus existed, and was possibly powerful in many ways but I don't believe in Christianity.
My beliefs aren't shared by many and I don't want to get into a religious debate because i'll end up saying something silly.  Lips Sealed

I may not doubt their intentions but their sense of logic would be a different matter

The point of this message was not to debate about religion the only reason why I stated my belief in jesus was to clarify that I am not turning away from the faith.  The intention of the message was that some people with aspergers go to religious sects or groups(example mormons, JW, seventhday adventist pentacostal/charismatic and others) expecting to be accepted only to find a false warm welcome that goes as far as church and there formal events and then they/I are excluded from doing casual things like going to dinners and the movies.

Its my experience that I had that fundamentalist christians [/u] are hypocrites and are to be avoided like the plague.  Acting OVER the top friendly only at a certain place and time and making you think that they are your friends only to leave you out of other activities and then when I wondered why I was being rejected I was told that I was to intense so I felt decieved and if they did not want to be friends why did they just not say so. Oh it would not they christian they say and its christian to pretend to be somebodies friends and its christian to pretend that your keen on being friends.
I just wish to save others the pain of going through it if I can.
Its just a warning to other aspies who are desperate for acceptence that do not be fooled by the phoney niceness that these people put on.  What conclusion people come to about Yeshua (jesus) is a personal thing and therefore is something personal to a person.  I am not here to force my beliefs onto other people and I certainly hope I am not comming accross as this. Some Christians are good people and some of those I may trust. They're just hard to sort out from the bad ones.
It's a shame there are so many who have distorted and twisted the good intentions of Christ for their own egos these days. Then again, maybe it was always like that...

Christian groups are hard to trust. Due to past experiences I spent about 6 months keeping my ties to my church limited so I could quickly cut them and disappear if things didn't go well. I've been there for 3.5 years now.

Actually in my experience people with Aspergers tend to be Atheist more often than not, because of the logical issues with most theologies and they tend to embrace more logical and scientific beliefes. Perhaps in places like the US where relgion is so much more engrained as a part of the middle american culture, it may be different, I don't know, but certainly in europe, that tends to be true.

I agree. It seems much more common to see aspergers "athiests". Something I cannot relate to, but each to their own.

My question is is it more logical to believe that the earth and the universe got here by mistake or that something made the whole thing.  Sure things may have evolved but what was the mechanism behind it Confused Huh?

The bottom line is that faith is unproveable.  Supernatural forces are unproveable, unmeasurable.   That is something for each individual to decide for themselves.

I've decided that I believe in the Big Bang and evolution.   Thats where I stand as far as I can understand it.
