Objectively, all human beings are worth the same. Subjectively, the more someone means to you, the more they are worth to you personally.

so if you mean nothing to everyone, you would then be worthless or of no value?...

for us to have any worth, we need 'others' to have a use for us, or be of some importance?

That's not what I meant. Even if you do not personally matter to someone, you'll still have the same objective value--all humans are created equal. However, if I had to choose between saving someone I love and someone I don't even know from a burning house, I'd save the person I knew. To me, the people I care about are the ones who matter the most; I'm sure you think the same way.

you and I are not equal when we were created felg, the sperm and egg that made me aint the same as those that made you. we havent even been completely assembled as humans, and we are already not equal - certain limits, potential, genetic diseases and future ailments are already being set at our creation.

just the same, their value also differs based on their value to the parents - some create babies that have no value or of a negative value to them - hence they discard them. while to some theyre the most important thing in the world. = the value differs, this objective thing you are saying. the baby of a couple in the middle of nowhere land is not as valuable as the child of a royal family who is meant to be the only heir to the throne for a country for example - he's important to the citizens of the country as well.

can you think of something/anything specific that is equal if it does exist?

'Equal' doesn't mean 'similar'. All humans are born with the same rights (allthough some have their rights repressed by their government), thus they are equal. The head of a government is only important because he's elected, and it's his/her position that's of higher value than other positions, not the human itself that's worth more than other humans.

A baby that's discarded has no subjective value to it's parents, but it has the same objective value as a prince or a princess, provided that it's capable of rational thinking.

felg, from your own words theyre not the same. what you are talking about at most is similar and not equal...

and rights does not equate to value as well even if what youre saying is true. not all humans have the same rights - that may be what you believe or what the world (some) aspires for but that is not reality for everyone. a persons rights are only valuable when it is put into use/can be. like owning a car that sank to the bottom of the sea. right to marry for example, is meaningless and useless to a person who doesnt want to get married ever - they have their own relative weights just like human value

a position is useless without the human to carry it - right then and there the value of the one who wields it gets established already. if your president will make it so so that 'you' will get more benefits, im pretty sure 'his' value to you will increase.

a baby is incapable of rational thinking and not all babies who reach adulthood are - so what do you mean?
