nah, I don't listen by notes. I usually study their patterns in my head and make mental notes.

Oh... so pitch doesn't come into it for you after all, then Wink lol Smiley

PS... though Keys and Modes determine certain notes within a piece, they are not themselves musical notes Smiley

Oooops. DX is simply shorthand for 'Diagnosis' - sorry if it confused.

I'm DXed/diagnosed with a High Functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Its virtually the same thing with Asperger's but the early development of spoken language is delayed/impaired. Asperger's Syndrome is peculiar within the Autistic Spectrum for having normal or near normal spoken word development in its diagnostic criteria. Many clinicians ignore this subtlety and call all HFAs Aspies... however, I adhere to details and so that doesn't sit well for me personally - lol

Its the main difference between Asperger's and HFA (High Functioning Autism). Though, Asperger's Syndrome itslef is a form of High Functioning Autism.

My compositions often are composed in Minor Keys, free of Key or some of the less used Modes (or Modes of my own invention). Sometimes I also use falling thirds without any particular key... and I once scored an entire short film using only four Tritones played in different ways (and the individual notes within those four Tritones. I rarely compose in any Major Keys.

Minor Keys are, of course, not always depressing or morbid... more often pieces composed in Minor Keys are really beautiful... its just that Minors sound more sorrowful and sad. Smiley

Some people have posted some good resources, I think you'll do well with them. Welcome to the forums, too. Smiley

I found your You-Tube, what i liked is that you look okay:)

Like a girl next door, for me it's a shock to see(like in my country)all the
Aspies look like retards:(
I'm not bad looking, alot of people think i'm gay....
Not to offence anyone on this forum, but it didn't give a pos feeling.
I'm kicked of a dutch aspie social network, because of my first impression.
Don't like it much, because what i found out,it's parent of Aspies posting things:(

Cool

Aaryk Noctivagus
Your theory is very good:)
I'm autodidact, like you i like to cross the line in what is the right way in music.
In jazz that's a "normality" only in rock it makes people confused.
I listened to your music, sounds very nice.
It's cool that you can use your talent.
I guess for some blockbusters it's also useable:)
What kind of gear do you use(Roland or Yamaha synthstuff??)
Do you work on hearing or writing.
For me it's hearing a inner melody, from that perspective i start to create.
Only this aspie thing(now it's got a name) made me unmotivated, but that will change.
Bye for now:)

I don't like the words used either... but he is simply being brutally honest as to the impression he gets. Remember, we Autistics are not know for our diplomatic skills... so don't hold it against him Grin

Thnx for the sporty reaction:0
I can imagine, some get offended by it,but it was my first impression after been diagnosed.
I visited a website, and had a feeling of sadness and parents who created special websites for those childeren,i guess u make it worse for those kids.
I relatively grew up normal,if my parents treated me like ow it's so sad and tell it the whole world,i guess the etiket will be more hard.(later in life)
It's nice to make it open ,but this kind of info shocked me...
But that's Holland,sometimes it's to open..

So i see this from a other perspective as non knowing(sleeping)Aspie:)
It felt like those children/people were born to be overprotect and were like in a stadium of.....u name it,as i maybe say it can be shocking for some.
Everything in our world is labelled, can't help to give the word "retarded" to it....
Before that i was "weird"but now it's "Aspie"Smiley

To be honest,as i already noticed Aspie's are.
I like the special-talents and not the depressed "no one understands me/him/her"like Bill Gates kicks everybodies a$% although he's a nerdy:)
Been through that stage, but now it's confusion.
You can translate that as,no one understands it,or accept it and(my experience)undertsand obsession about the "handicap"as i did with it.
Like ehh what's wrong with this(my)picture,i like it not following the big crowd..
I guess in time i'll accept it.
Greetz,
Olivier

When I was younger I was teased for "looking retarded", so I wonder what a retard looks like.

I can call myself retarded with no problems but I will never call anyone else that.

I can call myself retarded with no problems but I will never call anyone else that.

I wouldn't use the phrase as an insult... but I might use it if the other person really is retarded. I have often called myself Socially Retarded.

The word 'Spazz' on the other hand... I think is really really distasteful and I would not use it. Its a term I oft heard at school when people bullied others (including a friend of mine who had Cerebral palsy). In the UK because of this, the word 'Spastic' and its variants have become almost bad language... and 'The Spastics Society' (a charity) even changed its name.

Nothing wrong with the word 'spastic'... except the stigma that got attached to it by ignorant bullies and the twits who abused the term and thus eventually made a stigma attach to it.

hehe, well alot called me retarded in reaction.
My twinbrother is spastic(well his body doesn't function normal, call it disabled) and mentally he's 16 years old.
Very hard for me and isolated because im hundred times faster then him.
Aaaaaaaah finally i'm Aspie,my twin brother works with severe autistic children, and will be surpriced of this news.
I grew up to be the "normal" one..but always had a "nobodie understands me"feeling.
First i thought it will be over when puberty is over, but it kept on going...
Most of the times in a childish way,i reacted to situations i couldn't handle.
My father died 2 years ago,and started this quest,i felt like uneaccepted depressed and totally off this planet.
But like other Asps,i'm half robot with the killing looks of The Terminator:)
That always kept me out of trouble..
I hated that because later on people said, well you are all right, but u gave me the creeps when you  gave your first glimps:(
Now i use it,to make it some sort of wildanimal reaction.(like i'm just cool hehe)
Alot of girls like it,it makes me laugh a little "normal"after it,although i can not control to stay emotional in facial expression:(
I try to cover it up by humor:)
My girlfriend immitated me when i was in a autistic state, they call it preoccupied.
Now i know what it is,and try to use it in some way to use and enjoy it:)
I really got confused, because i still have a meeting with the aspie/"autcast" foundation/docs/shrinks here in Holland.
Greetz,i'll hope the word retarded that i gave as example is more a label society gives it not personnaly donno any of u.
For instance a you-tube video which says assburger syndrome shook me up.
Then the more severe aspies as i am made me a little depressed, like aha so that's how people see me.
But cool some said it's lifestyl that's superior to "normals"
