I can tell you exactly why monogamy became so-called ' the in thing.' Simple, in ancient times if a male had sex with a female it was considered a marriage. The Roman leaders wanted to have sex with anyone they pleased without having to take care of said females or their children that were sired by said male. To easy this burden, men ( in ancient Rome and a few other places ) made it a law that a man could have only one wife, so as to avoid legal responsibility for his masculine part and the consequences of its use.
The monogamy law was not enforced then, it was only created for convenience. Any man who wanted more than one wife could have one as the law would not be enforced if said man wanted so much responsibility.
As God is the same yesterday, today, and forever; what was Biblicaly permitted by God in the day is still permitted by God now ( as God never changes.)
A few polygamists in the Bible were :
Father Abraham
Isaac
Jacob ( had 4 wives )
The 12 sons of Israel ( Jacob )
Moses ( who had at least 2 wives)
King Solomon
King David
amongst many others!!!!
I believe in polygamy very much, but it should be lived as prescribed by God and His holy word and not as lustful people would have it.
Anyway, if you want to know more about it, I know a whole lot about this particular subject. Hit me up anytime!
God's speed!
