she has done so well for her self and she is a great role model for people with aspergers.  You can look her up on youtube and also at meettaylormorris her own website.

I have been following this Taylor Morris thing for sometime now and I have to admit it has raised some doubts. I think the videos of Taylor herself are great - but if you actually follow her on facebook, the whole thing seems like a bit of an excuse to get Taylors mum onto the pundit circuit. Her mother charges an awful lot of money to go from place to place giving talks about her own specific brand of wisdom based on her experiences with Taylor and her own spirituality. At first I watched the videos ect and thought wow! This is a really good way to raise awareness - but after a while the things I saw and read made me quite uncomfortable and there appears to be a rather large amount of money involved in the whole thing too. Maybe I am just a cynic.

Money is a very powerful motivation. Given the right amounts I think even a normal person would act as if disabled just to get some. Poor Taylor, I wonder if the mother is just really capitalizing on her situation.

But if it works and the common folks would buy it, who cares right whatever the motivation is behind it. Maybe theyd think of the pretty Taylor Morris instead of the Rain Man next time they think of the word (some cant differentiate between the two).

Thing though is of course other people can see this as well and might even draw their own conclusions like theres a connection indeed between aspergers and being taken advantage of - which is what some groups heavily push for. Remember those ads on TV. And this doesnt even need to be the case, maybe her mother does genuinely care, but it only needs to look that way to stir things up.

Yes I understand what you dapadee I was also thinking a little bit along your lines zen in that I feel that some people like this may be in it for there own gain or glory.  There are some incredible high achievers with aspergers/ HFA but to expect that EVERY body with the same condition will be able to meet the EXACT same achievements is just crap.  Even as aspies we are gifted with different strengths and weaknesses, interests and talents.  I am not a very academic person I prefer practiccal things but some aspies/HFA are very gifted academically and so forth.  To expect me to achieve what temple grandin has achieved even in my life time is just crap what these people should be is what a person with autism HAS THE POTENTIAL to achieve or as an example of what SOME have achieved despite adversity.
