Anyone have a favorite scripture that they would like to share? I can't think of any in particular, but maybe someone else can...

Hi Alaskagirl!

My favourite passage of scripture is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life".

There are so many really. "Show me, Lord, your way, so that I may walk in your truth. Guide my heart to fear your name". (Psalms)

And finally Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I shall come in to him and eat with him, and he with me"

Have you ever thought of THAT: having a meal with God? What would you say to him?

Mark 14:51-52
A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

Most random verse ever (especially when you look at the context).

My favorite is the one that is demonstrated by truly living it.

I have met a few people in life that have done just that.
They were refreshing to be around.
They naturally gathered people around them just by their demeanor, the actions...reactions...inactions (in the face of temptation).

Scriptures are meant to be a guide to leading a better life...they mean nothing if they are not made a part of you...to change you fundamentally.

It must become a way of life...nothing less.

Disclaimer:  I am Atheist (as in simply...not theist).

Not really scripture, but advice from the Buddha, that I think many people (especially politicians) in todays world would do well to listen to:

Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.

1 Corinthians 13
1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

the two greatest commandments
Love the lord with all your heart and soul and mind a
and love your neighbour as you love yourself.  Yeshua was all about love.  I think i understand where shiriota is comming from many christians groups are all presentation and no substance.

I am not christian, i was baha'i however i believe that "god" or however you define (I call it the silent force myself) it can be found threw the understanding of how the natural word works. The more I study quantum physics i believe there is a higher order that binds everything together

THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS (Fragments of Greek Gospel of Thomas)

Jesus said, "If those who attract you say, 'See, the Kingdom is
in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they
say to you, 'It is under the earth,' then the fish of the sea will
precede you. Rather, the Kingdom of God is inside of you, and it is
outside of you. [Those who] become acquainted with [themselves]
will find it; [and when you] become acquainted with yourselves, [you
will understand that] it is you who are the sons of the living
Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty
and it is you who are that poverty."
