I don't really play much now but the best game I've played is GTA (3 onwards).  Back in the day, the Sonics (even spinball!) on the Megadrive litterally took over my life.  Doom was another one.  Also I forgot to eat all day when I played Lemmings for the first time

Turok was awesome! We cheated to get the chronosphere though. We were okay at it, but not great.

I remember lemmings, it was so high tech back in the day. Remember those blocks with arrows that could only be dug through from one side?

Oh yes, I remember the music too.  O' little Town of Bethlehem and that well known classical piece.  Might have been different on platforms other than Amiga though.  I like the cat noises they made when they diedn too

My Uncle and I rented a 64 for the weekend and we played Turok then.  It was awesome for its day

Yes I really loved my sonic as well back in the day including doom and then duke nukem 3D but otherwise these days I avoid owning machines as its too addictive for me and I begin to melt down and start to spew words that cant be repeated here so it gets me angry especially if I am playing an annoying game or just loosing constantly

I must say I have been really dissapointed with the last 12 months releases: Still waiting for Fallout New Vegas to stop crashing five months and four patches after release  Angry

Anyway, favourite games, there are a lot, so I'll try by decade:

70's:

Adventureland by Scott Adams
Pirates Cove (Pirates Adventure) by Scott Adams
Lunar Lander - The Atari Version
Galaxian - (Had a bit more grit than Space Invaders)
Frogger -  Just because it was annoying and addictive
Star Raiders

80's:

Scramble - probably one of the few reasons to own a Vic 20
Impossible Mission - Terrible Digitized Speech - it was amazing at the time.
Lords of Midnight
Outrun - Arcade version or c64 version (which I can still complete in under eight minutes!)
Leaderboard - Amiga version: the one and only time I have had any interest in Golf!
Elite - by Ian Bell: Quite possibly one of the best games ever written - google oolite for a fantastic PC/Mac reworking
IK+
Ikari Warriors
Mega Man 2 - hated the NES, but this made it worth owning one.
Final Fantasy - Second reason to own a NES.
Legend of Zelda - Third and Final reason to own a NES
R-Type
Paradroid
Parralax
Wizball
Silent Service - One of the first offerings from the great Sid Meier
Gauntlet - Arcade Version - spent lots of time playing this when I should have been at school
Sim City
Prince of Persia - the Apple II version was stunning!

90's:

The Secret of Monkey Island - loved this game even though it cost me £300 to get a hard drive for my Amiga (it came on a million floppy disks)
Final Fantasy 7 - speaks for itself.
Goldeneye
Mario 64 - not a fan of Mario, but I enjoyed this.
Tekken 2&3
Doom
Duke Nukem
Resident Evil 1&2
Silent Hill - fantastic atmosphere in this game.
Civilization - various incarnations (they are all good apart from the latest release)
Broken Sword
Tomb Raider1 - 1000 - how can you not like Lara?
Metal Gear Solid
Zelda - various releases - all pretty good.

00's:

Dark Age of Camelot - probably the only MMORPG that ever got it right.
Oblivion - PC version with plenty of mods installed!
Shadow of the Collossus
God of War
Fallout 3
Chrono Cross
Far Cry
Portal

I'm sure I've missed plenty out, but those are the ones that spring to mind Smiley

I loved sega(owned both master system and megadrive and loved the sonic series and 2d beatem ups) when I was a kid and had a keen hatred for nincrapto(as I used to call it back then LOL)  I also loved the atari it was awsome. Now adays  Give me an xbox 360 anyday with the halo series.  Did enjoy lost planet though and did also enjoy other various games such as iron man 1
